Connections You Need in Your Network

“Why would I want to network with someone who does what I do?”

“We compete against each other! There’s no point in us getting to know each other better.”

Sound familiar? At Inner Circle, we understand networking is not prospecting.

“So, what’s the point of networking then? I’m looking to do deals.”

Networking is about deepening relationships with other business leaders and building a strong resource deck for you and your clients to utilize strategically in order to grow. It’s about building credibility amongst a group of people who will recommend you when a client of theirs has a need.

Our members depend on each other like a resource bench of vetted, trusted advisors who are there to help them and their clients with any number of different needs.

To know what types of connections you need in your network, think about what the majority of your client need on a regular basis, other than what you offer, and build your resource deck from there. And yes, sometimes that will include other business leaders who operate in the same or a similar field as you do. Perhaps they have a distinct specialty, or years of experience and a resource deck of their own that you can benefit from.

Wouldn’t you love to be able to draw on someone else’s hard-won knowledge and experience, rather than having to stumble around by yourself in the dark?

That’s why The Inner Circle has squads which are industry specific, creating opportunities to collaborate and learn from each other, especially other leaders in your own industry.

Developing those strong business relationships will naturally lead to more business referrals, expanding your reach and giving you more opportunities to close deals. Stronger relationships also lead to unforeseen ways to create, build, test, and close business opportunities together. In The Inner Circle, we call these Power Partners. The more you and your Power Partners understand about each other and your businesses, the more you’ll uncover ways to work together.

So, don’t discount or be afraid of networking with those you might consider “competition.” In fact, those people may be the exact type of connections your business needs to take it to the next level.

Want to grow your network with the right kinds of people? Come joins us at our Summit this fall. You will make impactful connections while gaining insights around setting and reaching your goals. Hope to see you there!
