Who Do I Need to Meet? Networking with Intent

It’s no secret that networking is a strategic business tool, but sometimes the connections you’re making aren’t getting you where you want to go. If you’re not setting goals for your business relationships, networking can become aimless. Stop and ask yourself:

What do I want to achieve?

Whether you’re looking to expand your audience, establish reliability, or open doors to opportunity, having a sense of purpose within your networking interactions will drive you towards meaningful collaborations.

It’s time to explore the art of networking and unlock the power in your partnerships as we discuss the WHOs and HOWs of making effective connections.

Making The Right Move

Here at the Inner Circle, we encourage our members to build Power Partnerships. A Power Partnership is an alliance between individuals or organizations that combines their complementary strengths, resources, and expertise. As you put yourself out there and attend networking events, look for driven individuals that aren’t afraid to take risks and embrace challenges in pursuit of their goals. These are likely to be industry leaders, thought influencers, collaborative champions, and cross-industry connectors who want to see mutual success as you both move forward.

It’s important to make your network as wide and diverse as possible to maximize your exposure to different perspectives, experiences, and opportunities. Over time you’ll have created a broader and more inclusive community that gives you an adaptable edge for the problem-solving scenarios your business will encounter. At the same time, don’t let the size of your network overwhelm the quality of your relationships. Make sure your partners know you have their back by checking in and reaffirming the trust that you’ve built with one another.

Keep Your End Goal In Sight

Once you find connections where your objectives align, focus your attention on building something deeper.

  • Communicate openly and regularly

  • Offer support and take interest in your partner’s success

  • Seek opportunity for collaboration and growth

  • Provide resources and introductions to other partners

  • Stay updated through socials

  • Attend each other’s events
