Why Networking Matters
If you are reading this blog, you are already in a better place than most because the information we are about to share is authentic. It’s important. It’s real.
It’s not the fluff you might read in another blog. This isn’t about first impressions or flashy business cards.
This is the truth and highlights why most successful professionals invest their time in a good network.
Yes, the word we use is “invest.” There’s an ROI (Return on Investment) that should happen for you in any network–IF you choose to invest, that is. And I don’t just mean money.
Here’s what it means to invest in a network:
Spend time and money in your network. Invest in your relationships and watch your business grow!
Take relationships to the next level. Initiate 1-2-1 time with people who interest you. Find ways to refer business to one another.
Invite people to your events and show up for them at theirs. It’s more important than you know.
Be relatable and approachable. Find ways to connect with people on a personal level, offer a helping hand, and make an introduction to someone that may change their business for the better.
Update your story. Being on social media can be tough. Focus on talking about what’s new and helping others.
Follow through on any introductions and conversations. Be authentic and genuine–it’s refreshing and memorable!
Once you can honestly say you are doing many or most of the things above–which take a lot of time, by the way–then you can start to look for reciprocation from them too.
What can you expect out of a good network:
Clients that fit your “ideal” target
New opportunities that intrigue you
Experiences and learning opportunities that shape your career
People with experience that can give honest feedback
People to trust when you need to discuss the deal you are making with the referral
Referrals, of course
Bonus: Maybe even some business from the people IN the network, too!
And of course, in this same amazing network, you’ll make the money you want to as well!
If you want some more tips on how to make the most out of your networking, make sure you know what you’re looking for and “ASK” for it.
